With this update, merchants can take payments through the yetipay mobile app using iPhone XS or newer. The feature supports contactless cards, Apple Pay and digital wallets, with no additional hardware required.
“iPhones are the UK’s most popular smartphones,” said Oliver Pugh, founder of yetipay. “So we asked ourselves — why not let them do more? With Tap to Pay on iPhone, businesses can serve customers wherever they are, without being tied to a card reader or counter.”
Tap to Pay on iPhone is powered by Adyen’s technology, recently expanded to nine more European markets. The integration provides yetipay customers with secure, reliable payment processing in a setup designed for mobile-first businesses.
A growing shift to mobile
This launch comes at a time when contactless is now the norm for UK consumers. According to UK Finance, 75% of debit card and 65% of credit card transactions were contactless by the end of 2024. As customer expectations shift, small businesses are looking for ways to meet them without adding complexity.
yetipay has seen strong adoption of its mobile tools. Before this feature was even announced, around 30 businesses a week were signing up for the app without any promotion. Usage is on par with yetipay’s web-based Basecamp platform, which has traditionally been the first stop for new users.
“We’re seeing merchants jump straight into the app even though it’s optional,” said Meredith Papanicalou, Head of Product at yetipay. “That says a lot about how ready they are for mobile-first tools that just work.”
Customer Success Stories
For some businesses, Tap to Pay on iPhone is already helping things run more smoothly.
“Quick and easy app, more than very competitive rates,” said Simon, owner of The Cricketers Pub in Burgess Hill. “We’re a very busy wet-led pub. I would fully recommend yetipay. What they promised, they delivered — and that matters in business.”
Built for Future Innovation
Tap to Pay on iPhone is part of yetipay’s broader effort to expand mobile functionality for small businesses. The team says the underlying platform will support future updates aimed at giving users more flexibility and control.
“We’ve spent time making sure this is intuitive and fits naturally into a business owner’s day,” said Polina, Principal Product Designer at yetipay. “It’s not just about accepting a payment. It’s about how the whole flow works.”
“This release lays a strong technical foundation,” added Marco, Engineering Lead. “It means we can move faster and build tools based on real feedback from the businesses we support.”
