2018
Where it all began…
While mentoring startups for the Swiss government (yes, really) in the Balkans, Oliver figured out his next entrepreneurial exploration: building a card machine with a beautiful user interface that let restaurant guests pay without waiting around. He called it TableYeti.
2019
The Yetis first footprint…
We found our first customer, a cosy little restaurant in Hoxton called Cub. Oliver was so dedicated that he practically lived in their basement for six weeks. By the end of 2019, our yeti flurry had grown to three, including the one and only Nicky (who the story goes Oliver met on a sailing boat in Croatia).
2020
A storm brews
Cue RONA. No further comments, your honour. But through the frost, a shining light: we teamed up with TiPJAR and invented the world's first contactless TiPJAR. Tap to Tip was launched by the end of 2020. Manufacturing during a pandemic? Not exactly easy... but we got it done!
2021
Navigating the Storm, Yeti-Style
2021 felt like a blur, but we launched Donation Station (pretty cool name, right?), a donation-focused version of Tap to Tip. We just about managed to navigate the continued changing rona rules under our feet. Probs one of our toughest years but we kept on moving —because if there’s one thing a Yeti can handle, it’s scaling mountains.
2022
A BrewDog Blizzard
We cracked another world-first! This time, we figured out a way to separate tips from a card transaction with a single tap. Piloting in BrewDog Dublin, it was an instant hit and we rolled out across the BrewDog estate by mid 2022, pouring nearly £3m into TiPJAR that year.
2023
A Yeti Rebrand and a Pho-nomenal Year!
New partners and a new name. Our Leave at Table product got itself back into the mix with a rollout across the wonderful Vietnamese restaurant chain, Pho. Same year we decided to shake things up, taking control of our destiny by going upstream in the payments world and pivoting from the hospitality focus. And just like that yetipay was born - a brand-new identity ready to make payments magical for all.
